Welcome to Pets for Life
- Pets for Life Society Alberta was formed in July 2001
- In 2012, Pets for Life found homes for 356 kittens, 140 cats, 126 puppies, and 66 dogs.
- Pets for Life is a 'no-kill' organization, and the foster home is also a sanctuary for animals that we would otherwise have difficulty adopting.
- Our organization spays/neuters, microchips, and vaccinates all of the rescue animals.
The mission of Pets for Life Society Alberta is to relieve animal suffering and distress by providing effective means to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome, and reduce the numbers of stray, injured, abandoned, abused, and neglected companion animals.
Communities in which all companion animals are kindly and humanely treated by responsible owners and caregivers.
Our Foster Home
Our focus is primarily in rural southern Alberta, where there is a tremendous need for an organization of our type. Many of our animals are rescued from this area, where they have been living in dumps, or wandering along the highway. Often, they are found terrified and starving. Once entering the organization, they are taken to our farm foster home in Pincher Creek and cared for until they are ready to be adopted through one of our adoption centers at Petland locations in Calgary (excluding Market Mall). In the event that an animal is unadoptable, it becomes a permanent resident of the farm.
To date, over 12,000 abandoned pets have been taken from near death and placed into loving homes. This program continues, and approximately 100 animals are rescued every month.
